Our (Second) Little Child of God

And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

I Thessalonians 5: 14-18 (ESV)

Daddy's BlessingSpencer,

Today we ask this blessing upon you. We ask that the Lord would bless your path through this exciting life. That you would hear His call for you early, and that through faith, you would seek to pattern your life according to that which has been laid out for you by the father. We pray that as your parents, God would use us and our imperfect faith, to lead and shape you in a manner according to his purpose. We pray for you that in a world filled with false idols and emptiness, that you would seek the life long contentment that can only be found in a personal relationship with Christ Jesus. Finally, your mother and I pray that your path would be filled with joy, prayer, encouragement for others, and a deep willingness to always share your faith in Christ. (May 1, 2011, 10:30 service at Uptown Church)

Spencer did a great job for her baptism. It was a special day with family (Gogo and Kris flew in, plus Grandi and Granny made the drive) and a special blessing from Daddy. At our church, the dads give a special blessing and read a verse chosen for the baby. Patrick did great, and Spencer seems to already be seeking to study the Bible because she wouldn’t stop grabbing for it! Spencer looked beautiful in her gown made by Aunt Denise (also worn by big sister for her baptism and now a family heirloom). Per usual, her big sister tried to steal the show. Anne Louise couldn’t make up her mind whether she wanted to be up front or sitting with Grandi or Mumsy. My favorite is literally RIGHT before Spencer was baptized, AL did her “monkey walk” down the aisle back to sit with the family. HILARIOUS.

Here are some more pictures from the special day with family. After church, we headed home for lunch. Nana couldn’t make the ceremony because of her recent surgery, so we all went over after naps to visit. Denise even hand-stitched the girls’ monograms and their baptism dates on the slip inside. These pictures don’t do it justice, but I’m so excited to have such a gorgeous heirloom in the family.DSC_0032DSC_0033DSC_0037DSC_0038DSC_0039DSC_0040DSC_0052DSC_0053DSC_0054DSC_0060DSC_0062DSC_0070DSC_0072DSC_0078
