No, not the Martha Stewart in me. The Martha Wilson. My Aunt Martha (of the Marcus Wilson) gave Spencer and Anne Louise silver cups. Judge Whitney and his wife Catherine gave Spencer a silver cup, too. All monogrammed (which I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE). So, what better way to use them than as center pieces for the baptism (along with the silver tray from my grandmother – Barbara Spencer Rixon (“Gigi”) – also monogrammed).
And I’m pretty sure that Aunt Martha would also approve of using my dad’s silver cup (and my stepfather Melvyn’s) along with the girls’.
Although, I’m pretty sure Martha would’ve brought out the silver polish. Both Marthas would, in fact. I guess I still have a ways to go . . . .
