Once upon a time, in a land far, far away (West Jefferson, NC), in a castle on a hill (Nana’s mountain house), there was a Little Princess who was the cutest little munchkin face ever. She had left her kingdom (Charlotte) with the King and Queen (that’s right, Mama and Daddy) to visit Nana’s Castle for the Labor Day holiday. While the Little Princess was staying at the castle, she had her magic power to sleep AMPLIFIED even more than ever. In fact, she slept until 10 AM on Saturday! Granted, the King and Queen had chosen to stay in the Dungeon of the Castle because it had enough room for the royal pack and play AND it only has one window, so the darkness is VERY conducive to sleeping, which the King, Queen, and Little Princess all love to do.
After her royal breakfast (cereal with blueberry pear sauce) Saturday morning, the Little Princess rode in her chariot with the King and Queen for the traditional “feast” at the downtown barbeque restaurant. At the feast, the Little Princess had her first taste of non-baby-gruel and LOVED trying to eat the green beans that Peasant Joanie shared with her. The Grande Queen of the Castle (Nana) even joined us for the feast!
Following the lunch feast, the Little Princess was whisked away in her chariot to go shopping with the Queen and her attendants (Peasant Joan and Peasant Caroline) at the outlet shops in Blowing Rock, while the King went to fend off evil doers and dominate the golf course. During the royal shopping trip, the Peasants pushed the Little Princess in her carriage (stroller). Because of her amazing beauty, the Queen and her Attendants bought many wonderful royal outfits for the Little Princess at the outlets (including some very adorable argyle tights).
Here is a picture showing the damage . . . (notice how the Little Princess has been replaced in the strollers by many bags . . . but its ok because Anne Louise WANTED to be carried . . . . ;).
Here is what Peasant Joan looks like when she’s “forced” to go shopping because she “DOESN’T” want to spend any money (fyi, MANY of those bags are hers).
While we loaded up the car, the Little Princess had a chance to stretch her legs . . . and by stretch, I mean she held her legs so tight to keep them off the grass. Note how her royal highness does not love to touch the grass (see how she’s holding her legs up).
Anne Louise LOVED the presentation of all the LOOT she got shopping!
The Little Princess was not quite the Sleeping Beauty she had been in the morning, as she was too busy eyeing all the subjects of the land to take a nap! Luckily, she caught a quick snooze on the ride home. Dinner was a luscious feast (again) of Grande Queen Nana’s barbeque chicken (with some grilling help from Servant Joan and the King).
The Little Princess played with some of the green beans and rice, and managed to get a few little pieces into her mouth. Finally, after dinner, the Little Princess retired to the dungeon to go night-night.
Unfortunately, the Little Princess woke up in the middle of the night being royally pukey. She threw up FOUR times, which is very un-princess like. After a quick call to the pediatrician, we finally revived the Little Princess’s magic powers, and she was back to sleep. Today’s feasts were not so much feasts. Doctor’s orders, though, so the Little Princess has been downgraded to milk and gruel (plain rice cereal) all day today. BUT, no un-princess-like vomiting today, so that is great! In fact, this afternoon the Little Princess revived her magic sleeping powers and took a three hour nap in the dungeon! The King and Queen even joined the Little Princess for their own royal nap in the dungeon . . . sure is nice to catch up on some sleep! When she woke up, she was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and ready to play! Here she is after Peasant Joan made a royal mohawk and trying to dive off crawl around on the couch.
Leaving Nana’s Castle is gonna be tough, but we have to get back to the Little Princess’s regular Kingdom . . . and life outside the dungeon . . . where everyone lives happily ever after . . . .
