Let’s Pretend.

One of these days, I’m guessing Anne Louise is going to have a wild imagination and will have a grand ol’ time playing “pretend,” whether it be dress-up, house, school, or whatever . . . but for now, at least for this blog post, I’m going to play “Let’s Pretend” for her.

For example, Let’s Pretend I actually did a ten month post, where I wrote down all her stats and development and posted her monthly picture in her chair showing how much she’s grown, you know – like I do EVERY month.  And Let’s Pretend that I didn’t forget get too busy to do that post or forget get too busy to take her 10-month picture, and Let’s Pretend everyone oooo’d and ahhhh’d over how much she’s changed since her nine month post.  Let’s Pretend I wrote about how much she’s crawling and how much she’s talking (including, drum roll, saying “Mama”).  Hey, we could even pretend we had a video of that big milestone or of her other big milestone - waiving and SAYING “bye-bye,” but that would really be pretend because it would require that I be a little more on top of my game and actually make a video capturing these  precious moments.  Let’s Pretend I told everyone about her favorite foods, including ALL green veggies (well, actually, that’s not pretend), and her LOVE of sweets (Let’s Pretend I’m not admitting that we often sometimes feed her non-organic food, too).  While we’re pretending, Let’s Pretend that I can actually remember the difference between what happened in October (leading up to her ten month bday on November 6) and what’s happened in November (now that we are a little more than a week away from her eleven month bday – December 6).   Let’s Pretend I’m a good mom and document things like that.

Back in REAL LIFE, her ten month pictures and update have totally slipped away from me – notwithstanding Aunt Caroline’s persistence for a new update AND a new picture.  And we don’t have a picture in the green chair like we’ve done for all the other months, although we could take one now.  Problem is, its days away from the picture we’ll use for her eleven month birthday, so it wouldn’t suffice to document her growth.  Instead, Let’s Pretend her adorable pictures from Halloween and her baptism (which were very close to November 6) will suffice.   And while we’re at it, Let’s Pretend she’s not growing up so fast and Let’s Pretend these months don’t just keep flying by and our little baby is becoming a little girl.
