Yummy for My Tummy!

Anne Louise has started solid foods and is LOVING it.  She had sweet potatoes for her first meal.  We expected some sort of reaction to her first taste, but it was pretty much the same as with her cereal – she shook in excitement and was begging for more!  Here are some photos from the first meal.   Smiling after first bite yummyYummy bowlGimme More

Since the first meal of sweet potatoes, she has had pears, avocado, and carrots.  All organic, but not all homemade (yet, at least – I bought a steamer this weekend).  She has yet to meet a food she doesn’t like, although the avocado was little hard for her to eat because I didn’t blend it with anything (just mushed it with a fork).  In order to make sure she doesn’t have any allergies, we are doing one food for a few days before moving on to the next.  So far, so good.  I think sweet potatoes are her favorite right now, and she’s not usually super excited to eat the pears, but gets into it after a few bites!  Her entire face is usually stained orange after carrots.  Here is another picture after some avocado:

Anne Louise is also on her way to holding her own bottle!  Tonight, we gave her a baby bottle (because she had a full one about two hours before bedtime) – my friend Allison (aka Anne Louise’s private healthcare provider) calls it a bonus bottle.  (Side note: Allison also helped AL’s “bowel-movement-adjustment” to real food.  A little pears, and it was smooth (literally) sailing from there.  Thanks, Allie!).   The bonus bottle tonight was extra small, and she was able to hold the whole thing all by herself the whole time!  She really enjoyed pulling it out of her mouth, holding it in front of her, and then sticking it back in.  Apparently, she has some coordination.  Not sure where that came from!  Anyway, it was a messy (notice the milk all over her face) but rewarding experience – sort of nice to feed AL hands free!
