Happy Half-Birthday Anne Louise!

6 month blog pic Dear Our Precious Little Anne Louise,

You are growing up so fast.  This time last year, we were just starting to spread the word about being pregnant with you.  No more drinking lemonade out of beer cans to ward off suspecting eyes – the news was out!  A few weeks later, we found out you were going to be a girl.  The joy in our hearts was overwhelming, and I immediately started scouting out adorable baby girl clothes and started pondering your name.  My, how time flies.  Six months ago, God was working a miracle inside my tummy . . .  and in your life.  The fear that surrounded your birth was immediately replaced with happiness and gratefulness to the Lord for making you a healthy baby.  Now, you are the epitome of a perfect child.  Your ability to go with the flow has made life easy for your parents.  For some reason, you’ve allowed us to continue our insane lifestyle, oftentimes sleeping in your carseat while we enjoy a late dinner out or keeping yourself entertained while we push the limits of your bedtime at friends’ houses.  The number of places we’ve hauled you over the past six months is unbelievable, and each time, you travel well, adjust well, and behave perfectly.  You never cease to amaze us with your willingness to adapt in any situation.  We deserve crying spells, and instead you perform giggle spells.  We are especially fond of the “high and squeaky” sounds of delight you let out, and of course, love to hear your chatter – especially in the mornings when you are so talkative!  If you only knew how many mornings we lie in bed and watch you on the monitor as you entertain yourself and play with your “friends.”   You never disappoint your adoring fans; smiling at anyone who speaks to you and letting person after person hold and cuddle you.  You are not picky – you soak up the attention from anyone willing to give it to you.  We’re not sure where you get this  from (haha).  Your adorable personality has won the hearts of your family, your teachers, and of course, your parents.

In the past six months you have gone from our little frozen chicken (how I used to hold you when you were tiny) to a child that now dislikes to be lying down when there is so much to see sitting up.  We pray your desire to observe and learn will never fade.  We are so excited for what the Lord has in store for your life.  You’re halfway through your first year on Earth, and in your parents’ opinion, it couldn’t have gone any better.  We love you more than you know.  We love your little button nose, your curious eyes, your squeals of delight, the little almost-dimple when you smile, how your hold our fingers when you’re sleeping, the fact you seem to love the water, and most of all, how you greet us with such a warm smile and laugh every morning.  We are so grateful to God for giving you to us.

With all our love,

Mama and Daddy

Anne Louise’s Six Month Stats

Height: 27.5 inches (95%)  Weight: 17 pounds, 3 ounces (77%)  Head: 44.5 inches (92%) [Anne Louise received a wonderful report at her 6 month check up.  The doctor said she is literally perfect.  Very alert, and even doing things that the doctor doesn’t see until 9 months – including SHREDDING the paper on the doctor’s table, which I couldn’t resist taking pictures of (see below).  The doc said 6 month old babies normally just crinkle the paper.  Not AL; she was ripping it apart, pulling it off the roll, and all but eating it!  The doctor was amazed at how well AL’s personality has developed and noted that physically, she is doing great.  It couldn’t have gone any better – except the shots, of course!]

Hours Slept at Night: 10-12 depending on when we put her down and when we FINALLY decide to get up in the morning;)    Bedtime: 8:00ish

Favorite Activity: Anything involving the water – the pool, the lake, the ocean, the bath – you name it!  She also LOVES having books read to her.  She tries very hard to hold the book herself!

Biggest Milestone in Month Six: Anne Louise can now start real food – yay!  We’ll definitely have to take pictures of our adventures with that!  Also, AL can sit for short periods of time ON HER OWN!  The funniest, though, is when she loses her balance.  Its like her whole body stiffens and falls over to the side – it reminds me of the Nutcracker doll in the ballet!  Anne Louise’s biggest accomplishment this month, however, was going in the water for the first time and loving it.

Nicknames:  Still love “Munchkin” and “Munchkin Face.”  “Monkey” is also still a favorite.  Her teacher Raven sometimes uses these names, as well as Annie Lou (like Caroline), and our friend Julie has now nicknamed her “Weezy,” which another teacher Erika also says.  Poor little Anne Louise is never going to learn her real name!!

Here are some pictures from Anne Louise demolishing the paper on the doctor’s examination table.
