This past weekend we took our first trip to Virginia Beach - and it was a whirlwind trip that Patrick has referred to as a "bomb run." We left Friday afternoon and returned Sunday afternoon. The normally 5 and a half hour drive only took just over 6 hours now that we have Anne Louise. It really wasn't bad. She's a great traveler, and the extra time was mostly due to us having to stop to feed her. During the time she was awake, her wide-open eyes seemed to show that she really enjoyed staring out the window!
We stayed with Grandi, where AL got some extra special love and attention! Saturday was very busy. We had breakfast at Kevin and Leslie's house, and they got to meet Anne Louise for the first time! They are expecting a little one (nicknamed "Dewey") at the end of April (check out their blog One More Magee), and we couldn't be more excited about the fact that the cousins will be so close in age! Here they are getting in a little practice before the big day!
One of the main reasons we came this weekend was for Leslie's baby shower. It was really nice, and she received some great stuff (including my new favorite bathtub, which we gave her). It was also great to see so many members of the family in one place! Anne Louise went with me, although I didn't have to do much since everyone was taking turns holding her! (Thanks Aunt Kathleen for the pictures!!)

After the shower, AL and I went to meet Patrick and his dad at the bar where they were watching basketball. Here is a picture of him meeting Anne Louise for the first time.
That night, we gathered the family back together for dinner. We are thankful that everyone made such an effort to spend so much time with Anne Louise!
Patrick couldn't resist taking this picture of Anne Louise focusing really hard on Aunt Judy's margarita . . . . only 20 more years til you can have one little girl! We had a great trip visiting with our family, and we're so blessed to have so many family members that love and care for Anne Louise!
