Anne Louise’s First Ballet “Recital”

Anne Louise took ballet last fall at the YMCA by our house and LOVED going to her class.  She was excited every Saturday morning getting ready, being a “ballerina,” putting on her leotard, wearing her ballet shoes, dancing, “twirling,” “leaping,” doing her curtsy, and . . . being held by her teacher.  Recital time came in December, and much like her Saturday classes, Anne Louise seemed really excited to put on her “Tinkerbell costume” to get to go “on stage.”  BUT, reverting to her favorite ballet past time, her recital consisted of her doing what she liked best . . . being held by the teacher. 

I’m OH SO GLAD we had the video camera to record her, um, “performance.”  Actually, it was unforgettable.  Just when you think she is being held because she is shy, so belts out to the entire Booth Playhouse at the Blumenthal uptown a special shout out. Her “shining moment” was apparently dedicated to me (awwww, I’m so proud) in the middle of the performance. “Hi Mama! Hi Mama!”  Its worth watching . . . even if you don’t get to see her moves.

AL’s Ballet Recital

She said she had fun “going on stage like Daddy,” and as soon as we got in the car after the recital, she said, “Next time, I’m gonna dance for you.”

One night when Patrick was in the mountains with Spencer, Anne Louise said she had an idea . . . to sign her up for ballet lessons again.  She was pumped and enthusiastic, so we will give it another try!  Here’s to the next recital for our little ballerina!!
