Welcome Spencer Frances Magee, born Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at 1:35 pm weighing 8 lbs, 9 ounces and 21 inches long

We are SO excited to welcome our precious little Spencer Frances Magee to the world!  Spencer is named for some very special people.  My sister Caroline’s middle name is “Spencer,” after my maternal great-grandfather Percy Spencer, and my sister Joan’s middle name is “Frances,” after my paternal great-grandmother Frances “Fanny” Hill.  Spencer made her entry via a very uneventful c-section, despite the major anticipation and nervousness I felt beforehand.  Honestly, everything went very smoothly and seemed to be less painful than I had remembered it in my mind from Anne Louise.  We even had two nurses in the operation room that we had when Anne Louise was born (and one of the same baby nurses, too).  Spencer had two VERY special visitors here for her arrival – Grandi, who came from Virginia Beach for the birth (and to help take care of Anne Louise while we were in the hospital – THANKS Grandi), and Grandmother, who came from Atlanta with Uncle Steve.  In addition to Nana, we are so glad that Spencer and Anne Louise got to spend time with their special grandmothers!!

Since birth, Spencer has been a great sleeper and eater.  Other than a few minor difficulties here and there, the second baby has definitely been a little easier than our first little munchie (although we’ve still been going on the same lack of sleep).  Unfortunately for Spencer (and I HOPE this isn’t a trend), the second child doesn’t get as much “internet love” as the first.  In fact, we’ve YET to send out an email with pictures announcing the birth of our darling girl, but that’s coming tonight, too.  So, without further ado, here are some pictures of Spencer’s first few days!

Aunt “CC,” who shared her name with Baby Spencer got to hold Spencer first (and then Aunt Gogo, who shared her name “Frances.”)We started out in Room 805, but after some “requesting” by Patrick, we moved to a “room with a view.”  Specifically, Room 820, which we think is the same exact room where we stayed when we had Anne Louise (click on the link to see the pictures to compare).  Anne Louise has been WONDERFUL with “baby sisser.”  The first meeting went extremely well – in fact, so well that we missed some great shots of Anne Louise grinning from ear to ear when she first walked up to meet her.  AL gave Spencer a “baby present,” which was a cute puppy lovie with Spencer’s name on it.  Anne Louise has also REALLY enjoyed “take a walk, take a walk” to pick up “Baby Sisser” from the nursery – she particularly likes holding onto “my handle.”  Although some of the times she’s been here, AL seemed to care less that any other child other than her was here, but for the most part, so has been SO sweet kissing “baby sisser’s” feet and head.  The “gentle touches” are also very sweet.This last picture cracks me up because Anne Louise was CLEARLY sick of “happy family picture time.”  We head home from the hospital tomorrow and will post more soon, but suffice it to say, we are SO grateful to God that things have gone well these first few days and we are SO in love with our newest addition to our family chaos – Spencer Frances Magee.
