So, at first we were blogging several times a week, then it became once a week, and now, we are lucky if we get something posted once a month! S-L-A-C-K! But, per the usual insane lifestyle of the Magees, we have been so busy that any free time we come up with has been devoted to resting. We are definitely professional resters, not bloggers. ANYWAY, lots to share as far as an update for Anne Louise (or “An-Weez” as she calls herself). Today, she turned 18 months old. To celebrate, she got a surprise doctor’s appointment (it was a last minute scheduling because I forgot to schedule an appointment and the next available was in August – so we got lucky with a last minute cancellation). Anne Louise is 33 inches tall (75-90%) and 26 pounds (75%). Anne Louise had to get some shots, so (continuing a tradition my parents used to do whenever we got shots), after the appointment, AL got her VERY OWN frozen yogurt. She finished ALL of it (including every little strawberry and banana).
Her pediatrician was extremely excited about how “verbal” she is. If you’ve seen Anne Louise in the past couple of months, you know she is quite the talker. Some of her favorite phrases these days are “Daddy’s Jeep", “Hi ___ (fill in the blank with any inanimate object -- “Hi pool,” “Hi puppy,” “Hi wagon,” “Hi Daddy’s Jeep”), the converse -- “Bye ___,” and anything that she can describe as “Mine” (including “An-Weez keys,” “An-Weez car,” “An-Weez seat”). The other day, while Patrick was helping another child into the baby pool, Anne Louise walked over declaring (over and over again) “My Daddy. My Daddy.” She is also a big fan of trying to see who is coming to see her -- “Daddy coming? CC coming? Gogo coming?” Of course, the word we hear the most (maybe even more than “Mama” and “Daddy”) is “No.” If, by chance, she’s in the mood to agree with you, you will not get a “Yes Ma’am” (despite my best efforts), but you’ll get a “Yep.” At least she is very good at adding “pweez” to most things. Anne Louise’s favorite foods are pizza (“pizzee”), “cup-cake” (which can also describe a pancake), “mel-non” (watermelon), and any “snack.” Her favorite toys are still her stuffed animals, including “Piggy” and “Elmo,” and her books. She’s still not a TV-watcher, but Aunt CC has started showing her “Gabba” (Yo Gabba Gabba), and AL LOVES to dance around while that show is on. As outgoing as she is, Anne Louise has certainly hit the clingy-stage, so when she’s tired, she prefers to cling to Mama or Daddy instead of being held or playing with other people. She’s NEVER too tired to blow kisses though! Perhaps the cutest thing she does is “hug” her friends and her animals. Hugging in Anne Louise-land involves wrapping her arms around you and leaning her head against your shoulder/arm/ears and saying “awwwww.”
Ok, enough with the Anne Louise recap – on to some pictures! Since our last post, we’ve been on the annual Wilson Family Trip to High Hampton, taken a trip to St. Augustine with AL’s godparents Rich and Ave, enjoyed lots of time at the pool “schweeeeming,” and participated in the BWE Neighborhood Fourth of July Parade. Here are some pictures from the past several weeks.

Below: “Hi pool. Hi pool. Hi pool.” (She was literally saying that as we are “parading” into the pool area – there are no people in the pool and there isn’t anyone she is waving to. She just loves greeting everyone and everything).
Finally, I must mention my special Mother’s Day (even though it was two months ago). Patrick arranged for us to have lunch at the Charlotte City Club, where we had our wedding reception 5 years ago. We are not members, but of course Mr. Magee managed to pull some strings for a wonderful brunch. We even got a picture with Anne Louise on the staircase we walked down as “Mr. and Mrs. Magee.”
It has been a great first start to summer, and we’re looking forward to lots of family fun for the second half!
