Happy 5 Month Birthday Anne Louise!

DSC_0486 Anne Louise is five months old; we cannot believe it!  She now weighs 17 pounds, as determined by the official Magee Family scale.   DSC_0505 DSC_0506

Anne Louise’s Five Month Stats

Bedtime: 8:00 pm (8:30 if we are just having too much fun with her) – same as its been for a while now.
Hours Slept at Night: at least 10 straight, sometimes 12.  We normally have to wake her up at 7 in order for me to get to work on time, and on the weekends, we get her up by 8 or 8:15 so that she’s not too off-schedule.  She’s our little sleeping beauty!
Favorite Daytime Activity: At school, her teacher tells us she loves the bubbles, books, and art time (I still cannot believe they let infants play with paint!).  At home, she loves for us to help her sit up (she’s not a fan of lying down any more and wants to see what’s going on).  She’s also really starting to like her jumparoo thing that my friend Cat gave her.  She’s FINALLY tall enough for her feet to touch the ground, and she just giggles all the time when she’s in it!
Biggest Milestones in Month Five: She’s starting to roll over more and more.  Anne Louise also seems to LIKE tummy time (I never thought THAT would happen!).  She kicks her feet and pushes up like she knows she wants to crawl, but she’s far from actually making that happen.  Its cute to watch her “swim on land” (which is what it looks like).  Another big milestone is eating cereal.  She eats it twice a day – once in the morning at school and then again at night for “dinner.”  Its definitely a mess-maker, but she loves eating . . . surprise, surprise.
Nicknames: Still the same Munchkin, Little Munchkin, Pumpkin Face, and sometimes Monkey.  Caroline and a few friends call her Annie Lou, and a friend/co-worker of mine named Steve has attempted to call her “Al” because we write AL on here, but I’ve hopefully convinced him that AL is not “Al.”  :)

DSC_0498 We had a great family weekend to celebrate Anne Louise’s five month bday!  We’ve been so busy over the past several weeks, that we decided to take this weekend to relax as a family and not make any plans.  It was JUST what we needed!  Friday was my flex day, and I really enjoyed spending the day with Anne Louise.  We slept in until 8:15, when I woke her up so she wouldn’t be TOO off schedule.  We had a lazy morning (including a nap), went to the gym, had lunch on the back porch with Daddy, and then a big trip to Babys R’Us, where we bought Anne Louise’s “birthday present” – a swing to hang in the front yard!  Anne Louise REALLY enjoyed swinging at the park with our playgroup last week, so we decided to get her a baby swing!  Here is the park swing, where she got to swing for the first time (we’ll post a picture of her in the new baby swing once Daddy puts it up).

AL Swinging for First Time

Friday night, Patrick and I had a wonderful date night at Barringtons (our favorite restaurant), while Caroline babysat Annie Lou.  When we got home, we decided to get a kick-start on the cleaning we had planned for Saturday.  We’re thinking the wine helped, but we were both super-motivated and managed to clean and organize the main part of the house before heading to bed.  Not only did we wake up to a clean house on Saturday morning, but we were able to head to the boat guilt-free!  The weather was perfect, and Anne Louise was perfect, too!  She LOVED watching the waves from the boat (I held her while we were “motoring” out – and of course she had on her coast-guard certified life jacket).  We “tied up” the boat to our friends the Thurmans’ boat, and enjoyed visiting with them while Anne Louise took a nap.  We had her stripped down to her diaper in the cabin, and at first she played.  (We thought the noodle as a “bumper” was very creative).  Lake 2 Eventually, the rocking got to her and she was out for almost an hour!  Lake 4 Lake 5Patrick and I enjoyed sitting in the sun relaxing while she napped, and then headed home once she woke up.  Saturday night was very low-key.  After a little more laundry and a little more straightening, we were in bed by 9:30 (lame, I know . . . . but we were EXHAUSTED!).  Today, we went to church and then came home for family Sunday afternoon naps.  We topped the weekend off with some yard work for Patrick and cleaning out drawers for me, and then headed to eat pizza with Joan.  It was a fun, relaxing, AND productive weekend for all of us!
